The Zambian Governance Foundation, set up in July 2009, offers capacity development and funding in support of civil society development in Zambia. The Foundation provides assistance to a wide range of Zambian civil society organisations from well-established to small and emerging based in both rural and urban Zambia. The Foundation is currently supported by DFID, SIDA, DANIDA, Irish Aid and GTZ.

Goal
Improved governance, with focus on government accountability and responsiveness to poor and vulnerable sections of society.

Purpose
CSOs at national and sub-national level engage more effectively with the GRZ, have stronger influence on pro-poor policy processes, and increase policy implementation monitoring.

our board members

The Foundation is headed by nine Zambian Board members with vast experience in civil society, business and academia. The Board sets the policies and strategic goals that guide the Foundation’s operations. The Board has a Grant Sub-Committee which is responsible for approving grant awards. Implementation of the core functions of the Foundation is vested in the Secretariat as the executive body of the Foundation.
