Nyankanga
Nyankanga is a rural community located in Mwapula ward of Chisamba district in Chief Chamuka’s chiefdom in Central Province. The community comprises five villages with 122 households and an estimated population of 1,326 and is largely engaged in economic activities such as small-scale agriculture farming, livestock rearing, and charcoal burning. Nyankanga community is not connected to the electric grid, thus community members use charcoal and other fossil fuels for energy with a few households using solar.
Collaboration with ZGF: In collaboration with ZGF, the community has bought 89 desks for the only school in the community. This has been done to support the creation of a safe learning environment for learners. The community has also formed three saving groups using the SaveNet approach. ZGF has also provided entrepreneurship training to community members in the cooperative that oversees the development projects in the community. From this training the community has been able to set up a milling machine business.
